My old battery died in my '08 Xterra and I installed a new one, after which the VDC Off dash light was now illuminated. After first sharp right turn, Slip dash light came on. Self-resetting did not occur while driving in straight line. Local Nissan dealer offered to "reload lost data" for $120. The SLIP & VDC OFF light came on and stayed on. After the trip home the SLIP light went off, however the VDC OFF light remains on. Is there another way to reset the VDC without taking it in and paying $80 for a diagnostic.

The P0420 code means there is an issuie with the catalytic converter on bank 1. This can cause stalling, but in most cases won't.The simplest thing to do is to take it back to the dealer.
